Wartburg Artist Series tickerts are still availabel
in the church office for the Texas Tenors (September 24 & 25 at 7:30 p.m.; $26.25 each) and Church Basement Ladies 2 (January 25 at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m.; $22.50 each).
The American Red Cross
will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, August 31 at Redeemer from 11:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
Wartburg graduate Mike Stetzel

Saturday work group to Ames.
Plans are developing for a work group from St. Paul's to work in flood damaged homes in Ames on Friday and possibly Saturday. Mark Mueller is coordinating the Friday effort. Sign uo in the narthex this weekend or call the church office, 352-3850. You can help in other ways. Call Sally Schneider, 352-3850 to cover gas and cleaning supplies costs.
The "Brethren" a gospel music quartet
will present a concert at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29 at St. Paul's. In 1990 St. Paul's own Don Meyer became a member of the quartet and they continue to travel the Midwest, bringing the gospel message alive through song. CD's will be available for purchase that afternoon. The concert is open to the public. Freewill offerings will be received to help with travel expenses.
Altar guild members
serve for a month twice a year. We are in need of a new altar guild member; you will be trained and paired with an experienced member. Contact Pastor Sandberg with questions.

Dates and times to choose from are August 14, 15, 28 & 29, September 11 & 12. Volunteers will be in the narthex these Saturday evenings and Sunday mornings to direct you to a photographer or set an appointment. Call Julie Lindaman 319-231-6011 if these dates will not work for you.
Cemetery Visitation
Members of St. Paul's property borad, cemetery committee, and others have been working this summer to improve the cemetery grounds. They'll be hosting a cemetery visitation on August 22, 9:00-11:30 a.m. at the cemetery. Refreshments will be served.

Sunday, August 22 at 5:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall for a potluck. games for the kids, and discussion and fellowship for the adults. Childcare is provided.
We will honor Patricia and Alan Hagen
Patricia Hagen, Organist and Director of Music, and Alan Hagen, director of Chancel Choir and Bells of Praise, will be honored at worship and during the 10:10 a.m. fellowship time on their final Sunday, August 29.

thank you for your cards, prayers and help during their recent orthopedic surgeries. Both are beginning to return to work.
Sunday, August 15, Strickert Commissioning.
In late May, Dr. Fred Strickert accepted a position with thte Global Mission unit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to serve as mission personnel in Jerusalem. He will serve Special Assistant to the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the holy Land and Jordan and as Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jerusalem. Diaconal minister Gloria Strickert will be sharing spiritual care at the Augusta Victoria Hospital. Fred will be commissioned for this mission mext Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and both will be present at the 10:10 fellowship hour to share about their training and upcoming work in the Holy Land.
