Wartburg Chapel Choir to sing at St. Paul's
The Wartburg College Chapel Choir, conducted by Dr. Karen Black will be the guest choir at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly at their March 17th 7:00 p.m. Midweek Evening Lenten Worship Service. The Chapel Choir is a small mixed ensemble which provides music for campus worship services and performs at the annual Candlelight Christmas Service and a Concert with the Handbell Choir in late winter. Dr. Black is Professor of Organ and related church music offerings, serves as Campus Organist and also chairs the Wartburg College Music Department.
Nancy Larson on Namibia
Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Nancy Larson will speak about a recent visit to Namibia, our NE Iowa Companion Synod.
Lutheran Schools Week
This week is Lutheran Schools Week. St. Paul's is unique among ELCA congregations with its preschool, all-day pre-kindergarten and elementary school. Thanks to Pastor Mike Sherer for editing the Schools Week newspaper insert appearing as a local newspaper insert. Thanks to all who generously support efforts to tell the school story to the community.
Lenten Offering
Gifts to Haiti and Chile earthquake relief as well as gifts to ELCA Hunger Appeal are both part of our $7500 overall Lenten hunger challenge goal. Lenten coin boxes are still available. Hunger Appeal envelopes are available in pew racks. Checks can be made out to St. Paul's with a designation marked on the envelope or the check itself.
Lenten Preschool
Lenten Preschool (ages 3-5) will be held March 22-26. Call Barbara Zemke, 352-2482, by March 15 to register. The children will study the passion history from Palm Sunday through Easter.
Hymnals
As we continue to expand our use of the hymnals for all worship services, additional copies are needed. If you would like to honor or remember a loved one with the gift of a hymnal, please notify the church office. Hymnals are $25 each.
