The confirmation classes at St. Paul's Lutheran Church recently led a drive to collect food and monetary donations for the Waverly Food Pantry.  A challenge was given to the three confirmation classes to see which class could collect the most food.  The 6th grade class made the game-winning drive with a total of 55 pounds of food. The students were thrilled to reap the sweet taste of victory in the  form of an ice cream party after confirmation class.  The church's high school youth, congregation, and students at St. Paul's school also contributed to the collection which amounted to a grand total of 545 pounds of food in addition to a number of cash donations.SBC 2010b.jpg

The effort at St. Paul's Lutheran Church was carried out in cooperation with a national movement, called the Souper Bowl of Caring, that is transforming Super Bowl weekend into the nation’s largest youth-led weekend of giving and serving.  This year congregations, schools and businesses collected over $7,500,000 in food and monetary donations to be given to the charity of each group's choice.

Thank you to all who contributed to the Souper Bowl Challenge this year!
