NYE Hula.jpgNew Year's Eve Party

The St. Paul's junior high youth and many friends stayed up late on New Year's eve to ring in 2010.  The evening began with fun games, dodgeball, pizza, a hula hoop contest, and an activity called "Romans and Christians" in which the students had to avoid being tagged by soldiers while they searched for a secret Christian meeting spot hidden somewhere in the church.  Christians who were caught and sent to jail were forced to watch an endless loop of "Sponge Bob Square Pants" before being released for good behavior.  Eventually the secret meeting was discovered in the sanctuary, which had been off limits, and the youth gathered near the altar for a quiet time of prayer, worship, and praise.

NYE Karaoke.jpgThe youth barely made it back to the Parish Hall in time for the New Year's eve party which included party hats, horns, confetti, and a giant sparkly purple ball filled with candy, which was dropped from the balcony after a loud countdown to the start of the new year.  The big green bus soon arrived to transport everyone to the Waverly Bowl Inn where 47 youth and chaperones filled up every lane for two hours of cosmic bowling, that also included karaoke by a star-studded line-up of St. Paul's youth who really love to sing.

NYE Dance.jpgIn the wee hours of the morning, options back at St. Paul's included the movie "Elf" or continuing with another game of "Hide and Seek."  Tired chaperones were relieved to see the well-rested breakfast crew arrive and get right to work in the kitchen.  After a sleepy closing devotions it was time for youth to head for home and straight to bed.  The youth had a great time together, and hopefully they will remember ringing in the new year with some fun Christ-centered fellowship and worship, not to mention quite a bit of craziness to go along with it.  Thank you to the chaperones for coming along for the ride and for their much-needed help.  Happy New Year!
